Spe´-cial-ists [n, pl]: Dedicated, knowledgeable Toastmasters willing to give 6–12 weeks of their time to help a low-membership club create a path to success.
Position Description
Appointed by the Lt. Governor of Marketing, Club Specialists assist clubs to build and retain membership and achieve DCP status.
The primary goal of a Club Specialist is to help a club reach charter strength (20 members). The Club Specialist commits to
working with one club for a period of 6-12 weeks, as needed.
The Club Specialist is expected to help put the club on the path to DCP status but, unlike a Club Coach, need not stay with the club until this goal has been achieved.
Responsibilities
Typical duties of the Club Specialist include:
Experience and Background
It is strongly encouraged, but not required, that ideal candidates have held one or more of these positions:
Previous experience assisting a struggling club is a plus.
Recognition
Club specialists and the clubs they assist will be featured in the District newsletter Toast of the Coast.
The Club Specialist will receive a special District One pin and recognition at the Awards and Installation Banquet.
Q. How do I get credit?
A. Once you've met with the club and helped them assess their strengths and needs, write up a brief description of what you plan to do
during your Club Specialist term. One project or event is fine, since another Club Specialist may help the club later. Submit your plan
to Catherine. After the project or event, or at the end of 12 weeks, submit a brief written follow-up report to Catherine.
Q. Can I use my term as Club Specialist as my High-Performance Leadership project?
A. Absolutely! In fact, we'll even give you a free HPL packet.
Thanks for your generosity and Toastmasters spirit!
