AND THE WINNER IS . . . Mary G. Russell

International Director from Region II, 2008 - 2010

. . . And, oh what a show it was. Imagine Toastmaster members, worldwide, represented by their delegates, voted for Mary. Not only did she win, she
won with 80% of the vote, a striking victory.

But then, Mary was the perfect candidate. She was proactive from the beginning to the end. She was knowledgeable, relentless, enthusiastic, motivated and seemingly never tired. Simply amazing!

Mary was the ultimate professional. My delight, as her campaign manager, was her display of graciousness with each and every person who interviewed her no matter how exhausted she was. When standing on your feet for what seemed like 72 straight hours, one has to admit that that is indeed an accomplishment.

Mary had her team close by at all times. A million thanks to Gloria Davis, Donna Oja, Michael Jue, Walter Grassl, Michelle Alba-Lim, Patty Cole, Johnny Ponder, the Adamos from Founders District, Gloria Shishido, and Kevin Doyle from District 49 and Brad Shilling a PDG from New York. Their spirit, dedication and endurance were miraculous.

Mary now sits on the Board of Directors for Toastmasters International.
She will have two years of hard work representing Toastmaster members world-wide.

District ONE is indeed proud to have our Mary as our Director. Well deserved, well earned and, unless I miss my guess, will be one of the best.

Mary would like to thank Joyce Persichelli and Norm Cook for their commitment and dedication to Toastmasters.
