My Fellow District ONE Members:

Mary G. Russell, DTM, is District ONE's Immediate Past District Governor, and is presently a candidate for International Director from Region II. Her campaign to be elected to this office will culminate at the Toastmasters International Convention to be held in Calgary, Canada, August 13 - 16, 2008. If Mary is elected she will sit on the Board of Directors of Toastmasters International for a two year term.

Two other districts in Region II are also offering candidates for the same office. As District ONE members, it would be an honor to have OUR candidate, Mary G. Russell, win this election.

You will see a great deal of Mary at the forthcoming Area and Division Speech Contests. This will be your opportunity to get to know her, become familiar with her leadership skills, her dedication to our organization and, most important, her dedication to each and every member. All of our district leaders, club presidents and vice presidents of education hold a vote. Our power to elect Mary is held in the proxies that will be mailed from Toastmasters International to the presidents of our clubs as well as to our District ONE Executive Committee in early March. Please keep your eyes open for the arrival of these proxies, cast your vote for Mary and by return mail send your proxies to our District Governor, Rodger Cota, DTM. His address will be pre-printed on the proxy. You all know how important your vote is.

I have known Mary since she began her membership in Toastmasters. I would not have agreed to be her campaign manager unless I felt that she is indeed the best candidate, the most qualified to represent us as our International Director on our organization's Board of Directors. Once you have met Mary and have spoken with her, I believe that you too will agree that she has earned your vote.
