Roy D. Graham was a man who dedicated 50 years of service to Toastmasters.  As you’ll see in the Historical Background, a vast majority of people who join Toastmasters never achieved a Competent Communicator award (CTM previously) or any advanced designations.  As can happen in a volunteer organization, only a small percentage of people move on to leadership roles & contribute to the organization as a whole.

That’s why it is extra special to acknowledge those who recognize the benefits of Toastmasters & give back to this organization through their dedicated hard work.  District ONE has an award that recognizes these fine people through the Roy D. Graham Lifetime Achievement Award.

The basic criteria to qualify for this prestigious award include

  1. Attained DTM designation
  2. At least ten consecutive years of service in Toastmasters
  3. Served at least 2 additional years at the District level

See the Award Eligibility Criteria page for more specific details.

District ONE has been very selective as to who is awarded this honor.
A committee made up from the current Executive Committee & previous winners of the Roy D. Graham award review the applications & vote on the nominees.

If you feel you are a Toastmaster who fits the criteria, or know someone who might be a candidate for this award, please submit an application for the award.  You may contact Laura Jarnat , DTM, Committee Chair,  at for further information or to submit your application via email.  The deadline is September 25, 2009.  The awards will be presented at the Fall District One Conference on November 21, 2009.
